Happy NISAW Day 1!
In case you didn’t see my Instagram post (@studentsagainstinvasivespecies), each day of National Invasive Species Awareness Week, I will be posting an ‘action’ and ‘resource’ you can use to combat invasives.
For the first day, talk to your family about invasive species (or check if they are in your yard!). You can bring it up at the dinner table or in the car. Ask if you have any invasives in your backyard or if you think there are some non-native, harmful plants in your garden. If you do, you can report them or remove them (safely). A resource you can use for this is my posters– I have them up all throughout the school! There is information on what you can do to help manage invasives, how they affect us, how to report them, and pictures of some common ones in our area.
Here are some photos of the posters I put up around school! I had several variations and designs, and I have the posters in English and Spanish to reach the maximum amount of people.
