Hi everyone and welcome back to ISOTM, this time for March! There are 5 Sundays in March, but I was not able to post on one Sunday during spring break, so here are 4 invasive species I touched on in March:
Week of Sunday, March 3:

Coral Ardisia is often controlled through methods such as:
- regulations to prevent spread
- removal of current plants
- mowing, burning, hand pulling
Week of Sunday, March 10:

The Brown Tree Snake is managed by:
- prevention of new populations (detection of snakes in shipping cargo)
- dogs that can smell brown tree snakes
- “rapid response teams” that eradicate snakes that are not detected right away
Week of Sunday, March 24:

The Spongy Moth is being controlled through:
- traps placed in order to monitor & detect
- some chemical controls
- biological controls (maimaiga fungus)
- forestry practices (attempting to improve health of trees)
Week of Sunday, March 31:

Tree of Heaven is managed using:
- pulling of seedlings (making sure to remove roots)
- herbicides
- cutting down of older trees
- monitoring
(Yes, I did choose Tree of Heaven because it is the invasive species for Easter ๐!)
Thank you for reading and follow my Instagram (@studentsagainstinvasivespecies) to stay updated with Invasive Species of the Week every Sunday (and other things I do)!
